In a unexpected partnership that challenges traditional expectations, Ubisoft has announced an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Adventure Disclosed

According to the formal announcement, "An unusual meeting leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where hints of prohibited practices and monstrous transformations reverberate through the shadows." The plot features a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a hidden cult.

The questline focuses on "peculiar tests and a monstrous foe" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Familiar Locations and Changes

The teaser features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview finishes with a dramatic moment showing a character, likely the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Bonus Features

Players who finish the mission will receive an unique katana alongside multiple objects hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

This update also adds the game's newest no-cost story addition, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive skills: Naoe reveals a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime properties. The series earlier included a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
